Sunnyland Slim, Honeyboy Edwards, Kansas City Red, Big Walter Horton and Floyd Jones had been friends since the 30's and 40's, often crossing paths as they travelled around the country playing in juke joints and coffee houses. Sometimes, two or three of those gentlemen would tour together, but it wasn't until 1979 that all five got together for a show, taking it to the stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City. A year later, they went into the studio to record the album that became 'Old Friends'.
