Fire On The Bayou

Thought I'd stay in New Orleans and play 'Fire On The Bayou', the sixth studio album by The Meters.

For those who aren't familiar with The Meters, the band was founded by one of my favorite drummers, Zigaboo Modeliste, Leo Nocentelli and George Porter Jr, and Art Neville, who also performed with his brothers in the appropriately named The Neville Brothers.  Considered one of the early pioneers of Funk, The Meters also worked as a backing band for such New Orleans musicians as Dr. John, Allen Toussaint and Lee Dorsey.

You can find the full album here or here.  Enjoy!

Released in 1970, 'Psychedelic Shack' is The Temptations twelfth studio album.

Signs of Spring

The starlings are back and my goats were doing their spring dance yesterday.  Sure, winter is still kicking our ass, but I'm a glass half-full kind of gal so I'm going to focus on these early signs of spring.

Great Escape

"Endtime ballads" is the phrase used by the founding member of Crippled Black Phoenix, Justin Greaves, to describe their music.

'Great Escape' is their most recent studio album.  It was released in 2018.

The full album can be found here

(Hat tip to a poster who calls himself TowerofBabel for introducing me to this band.)

February 9th

On February 9, 1964, The Beatles made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show.

On February 9, 1974, The Stooges... a band whose singer would later brag that they helped destroy the Sixties... would play their last show.

Seems to me, those two events make for interesting bookends to a decade that gave us love beads, flower power, riots and assassinations.

                                                           I Wanna Be Your Dog

What a difference ten years can make...

Size Matters, Right Ladies?

It's the little things that matter, and huge savings can be yours if you just hold out for the big payoff.

Tiny Tim was a huge star, but he never acted like a big shot.

Bigfoot apparently leaves a rather small carbon footprint.

Little Feet left a big impression.

Adam Ant, Little Richard.................Well, there was something I wanted to add but the smoke kicked in.

You get the point.

Wheels Of Fire

Couldn't decide if I wanted to feature 'Disraeli Gears' or 'Wheels Of Fire' so I flipped a coin.

'Wheels Of Fire' won.

Another Year, Another Party

It's that time of year when people all across America get together for a party.  The excuse is the Super Bowl, although I suspect that most people don't spend much time watching the game or even care about which team wins.  It's all about eating, drinking and being merry.  Or, as Koko sings, pitching a 'Wang Dang Doodle'.
