Bossa Nova on a Summer Afternoon

We lost João Gilberto, also known as the "Father of the Bossa Nova", on July 6 of this year.

In 1963, Gilberto went into the studio with Stan Getz and Antonio Carlos Jobim to record an album that blended American Jazz with Brazilian Bossa Nova.  Astrud Gilberto, João's first wife, was also invited into the studio to sing.  It was the first time Astrud sang professionally, and although she was only featured on two tracks she almost stole the show.

Thought I'd pay tribute to João Gilberto by featuring this beautiful album on this summer afternoon.
