The Afro-Eurasian Eclipse

As someone who may be America's greatest composer, Duke Ellington had a musical career that spanned more than fifty years.  I can't even count how many albums he released.  If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say somewhere around 200, maybe more, not including compilations.

'The Afro-Eurasian Eclipse' is one of Mr. Ellington's later albums, recorded in 1971.  Inspired by the people he met and the music he heard while travelling around the world with his orchestra, this may be his most intriguing work... and that's saying something.

"Art is dangerous.  It is one of the attractions.  When it ceases to be dangerous you don't want it."

~ Duke Ellington
