Unintended Consequences

I recently learned that at one time, Vietnam was so overrun by rats that they put a bounty on them. They offered money to anyone who turned in a rat tail. Good idea, right? This worked for awhile, until people realized they could make more money by breeding rats. Before long, Vietnam had a bigger problem than when they started.

Another example? A certain bigmouth decided he'd run for a certain high office, but did everything he could to be defeated. Next thing you know, he's elected. Now every aspect of his criminal life is under the microscope.

Unintended consequences.
